Veterinary Technician
Fort Worth Animal Emergency Hospital Veterinary Technicians are responsible for providing immediate and high-quality care to critical patients in an emergency setting. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced veterinary technician with a passion for emergency medicine, and a desire to provide compassionate care to clients and their pets. FWAEH Veterinary Technicians report directly to their Lead Technician / Shift Lead.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of FWAEH Veterinary Technician may include, but are not limited to:
- Triage patients and determine the appropriate status of patients’ condition upon presentation
- Acquire patient history pertinent to presenting complaint. Present history to attending DVM
- Perform diagnostic tests, including blood work, X-rays, etc as ordered by DoD
- Administer medications and fluids as ordered by DoD
- Monitor patients' vital signs and provide supportive care; alert DoD of any changes or concerns
- Assist with surgical procedures and anesthesia
- Educate clients on their pet's condition and treatment plan
- Discharge patients from hospital care, explain at-home care instructions as provided by attending DVM
- Ensure that the hospital supplies are adequately stocked throughout each shift, and maintain a clean and organized work environment
